I was looking through some older pictures before and I found this great picture of Peanut before we even took him home!!

Adam has wrote some great tips on buying the right puppy for you and how to make sure everything is right before you hand the money over. These were tips, which we followed when buying Peanut.

When we first set off looking online for breeders we had to find out what dog it was we wanted. We had to take into consideration a number of things such as what size of dog we wanted and the amount of walks they would need. We knew a family member who had a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and therefore we had experienced what those dogs were like and that greatly influenced our decision. Now we had narrowed down our search we could then look for breeders online.

After looking online and being happy we had found the right breeder we travelled to Nottingham from Manchester. This was because we had seen pictures online that the breeder had posted which we were happy with. When we arrived at the breeder’s house she showed us the bitch and we were happy that she was well looked after and cared for. The after that (now for the best bit) she brought the puppies in!!! They were 10 weeks old and almost ready to be brought home.

They were great, bouncing around the place and very lively. But one in particular took our eye, he seemed like a bit of a cheeky chappie and he has been that way ever since! So two weeks later we brought him home and prepared for his first night away from his mother.

We had been getting lots of top tips from dog owners over those two weeks and their advice was indispensable. The first night he cried a lot through the night, and the next night and the night after that! But we did hear a rumour that if you wrapped an alarm clock in a blanket it imitates a heartbeat. So by the fourth night we tried that and didn’t hear a peep from him all night! Other things that helped him settle in were mainly given by the breeder such as blankets that had been in his mother’s bed and therefore had her smell on it and small toys from the breeder. We also asked her what food he usually ate so that he didn’t have too many changes all at once.
